Player of the Month Awards
Historic & Current
Newsflash! Whoarding is (supposed to be) dead. Therefore, whoarding (even just within a single month) cannot win you the POM. If you whoard, you might get a mention, but cannot win.
Any super-whoarders (i.e. several saved months) won't even be mentioned. Just don't do it...

Also, be sure to have a look at the POM Rankings page by Your Eliteness.
It ranks players on how often they've been awarded on this page, both yearly and overall.

December
Big Bossman
Fittingly enough, the Elite's fifth year of intense Perfect Dark competition was brought to a close on high note, with December being the most active month atop the leaderboard in all of 2004. Runaway Player of the Month winner Bryan Bosshardt was to thank for most of the activity, accounting for 11 of 24 new World Records set. Had that alone not salted away the month's top award, that fact that 5 of those 11 were untied, or that he somehow managed an amazing 120 point gain from the #2 position, OR his dropping of nearly 2 full minutes (from a total that had already been lower than any other NTSCer in history) most certainly would have. Even with a number of other strong performances, this one was never in doubt.

The best of the rest was repeat runner TreAKAHotdog, who maintained his recent break-neck pace by jumping a further 12 positions (nearly cracking the Top 20) while notching his 4th WR and coming just short of another 800 point gain. Though the big Boss climb cost him no shortage of points, Your Eliteness managed to hold serve on the strength of 4 more WRs, every last one of them untied. Likewise, Funky Buddha's consistent PRing wasn't quite as impressive as that of Trent, but that didn't stop him from setting 2 WRs, improving by over 200 points and 60 seconds, and most importantly, crashing his way into PD's Top Ten. WRs also came in bunches for the last of the Aussie Three, JugadorJ3, who was one of December's best in that category, setting 2 untieds of his 3 total. And finally, Honorable Mention regulars Lec and Psycho were careful to do their own fair sure of the WRing damage, nabbing 2 and 1, respectively.

November
Funky Buddha
Although we have witnessed countless very tight POM races over the years, never has there been a month in which a legitimate case for the award could be made for as many as four top players. Until November. This month was able to boast more top performances than any prior, but in the end there could be only one... and that one was Funky Buddha. FB's huge 400+ pt, 5-position push toward the Top Ten, combined with 3:30 he slashed from his already sub-1:50:00 total, proved just enough to set him apart from the extremely talented pack. Of course his 2 new World Records, one of which was untied, certainly didn't do anything to hurt his case, either.

Hottest on his heels was runner TreAKAHotdog, who made just the kind of PR-intensive gains the POM was designed to award, picking up 850+ pts and 15 ranks on his way into 34th, and even snatching 2 WRs for good measure. Not to be outdone, fellow GE superstar Big Bossman made a noteworthy return to the limelight, single-handedly rewriting the Extraction recordbooks to the tune of 3 WRs, 2 untied. Bosshardt's 31 seconds-worth of PRing was enough to bump him from 4th to 2nd within the tight cluster of gamers ranked just below the Champ. Speaking of whom, Your Eliteness himself was busy defending his crown, largely through the use of 3 untied records (out of his 4 total), altogether accounting for 8 fewer seconds (bringing him within a hair of the rather insane 1:37:00 mark). Also making a grand return was JugadorJ3, who smashed the 2nd oldest {non-Duel} WR in history, along with 2 other fine WRs. And while Obfuscation [400+ pts, 5:40, 1 WR] continued to serve notice that he will soon be a force to be reckoned with, one man whose legendary status is already firmly in place, Wouter Jansen, nevertheless made an impressive return to the scene in a manner he's made almost commonplace: by setting an untied record. Fantastic month!

October
Your Eliteness
October saw the return of some pretty exciting activity to the world of PD and, as so often happens, the action was sparked by none other than the game's very best. Your Eliteness was on fire almost constantly during the month, slashing 19 seconds from his already-better-than-the-rest-of-the-world-combined total time thanks largely to his 7 new WRs, 2 of which were untied. By the time the 31st rolled around Ryan found himself a mere 25 points away from Perfection Itself (6300), holding all but 6 of the Elite's top 63 times.

That isn't to say that the Champ had no competition, however. His Aussie pal Funky Buddha was there to push him each step of the way, as the battle over the new Crash Site records in particular helped FB to come up just short in the WRs Set category, with 5. That many records is nothing to sneeze at, but DarkAko still managed to make the battle for Runner mighty interesting on the strength of a powerhouse performance. Some highlights include knocking over 5 minutes off his total while entering the Two Hour Club, improving by over 750 pts and 20 places, and nearly entering the top 50. Not to be outdone, fellow 750 pt man TreAKAHotdog's consistent PRing was enough to climb a full 14 places, all the way into that same top 50. Kudos also to the good Octobers turned in by Obfuscation [400+ pts, 14 places, 7 mins] and two other World Record setters in Dan Cervone and Narigutita. What a solid month!

February
Your Eliteness
It was, as always, quite short, and with holiday breaks having come to an end, February was understandably not quite as active as months past. This was also true in large part due to the fact that the new champ, finding life on top even lonelier than expected, finally hit the first major roadblock of his stunning career. The PRs proved very hard to come by in February, but that didn't stop Your Eliteness from keeping at it throughout the month, eventually churning out an impressive 6 new WRs, 1 of them untied. And although some solid play elsewhere within the Top 5 held him to a virtual standstill in the points category, these times proved enough to cut a full 17 addition seconds from his already insanely low total. 7 straight months... unbelievable.

With the (comparative) slowdown of the champ, it would only make sense that the POM race would have been a close one. And that was true, thanks to the efforts of Psycho, who powered his way well into the Top 25 on the strength of just under 350 points, slashing away over 2:20 and earning himself a new WR while he was at it. Our old pal DMan wasn't far behind, however, as his consistent PRs pushed him 2 places back up the ladder into 4th, as well as allowing him to make a very nice 49 second shave off his total time. Lec also stayed strong, as his 40 pts raised him to within a single place of achieving his Top Ten quest. And then there was the always-active Brazil, represented this month by kack, who made some serious waves [100+ pts, 1:00+ in time] in the midst of the Top 20, and Easton, who did exactly half as well [50+ :30+] on his way to joining his friend in that same company.

January
Your Eliteness
It may have been the start of a brand new year, but the end result of January's action was all too familiar, as Your Eliteness extended his incredible streak to an entire half-year. Despite having broken through the huge 1:40 total time mark only the previous month, YE found himself a mere 4 seconds away from the next minute milestone by the time February rolled around. In all, 37 seconds were cut and an additional 47 points were gained, further tightening his stranglehold on the league's top position. In true championship fashion, a majority of these improvements came through hard-earned World Records. There was certainly no shortage of those in the month, as Ryan bulldozed his way to a personal best of 8, a full half of which were untied. The domination continues... and with no clear end in sight.

That being said, however, this POM victory was not nearly as clear-cut as in months past, thanks in large parts to the valiant efforts of three men. Psycho led the charge, exploding for an impressive 500+ points on his 12 place journey to just outside of the Top 25, slashing off nearly 3 minutes while he was at it. Funky Buddha wasn't far behind, as he once again revolutionized the Deep Sea WR table during the month, to the tune of 2 more untieds. Rounding out the Big Three was Lec, whose nice performance [83 pts, 1:23, 3 WRs] helped him edge even closer to that coveted position within PD's Top Ten. As January drew to a close, he was joined in the Top 20 by newcomer kack, who had another solid 250 pt, 1:30 cut month. And lastly, we cannot forget the WR-machine that is Shade, who churned out an even better than usual 3 this time around, 2 of which were highly-impressive untieds. Yes, January '04 was another fantastic month, all things considered.

2003
Your Eliteness
Looking back, it feels more like a script for a tacky made-for-TV movie than anything that could actually happen in real life. A classic rags-to-riches story, featuring a young underdog who is willing to give it everything he's got, and somehow manages to come out on top despite all odds. But incredible as it seems, that is exactly what we saw take place all throughout the year 2003, as an amazing amount of hard work and dedication proved enough to carry Your Eliteness all the way from hopeless n00b on January 3rd to confident World Champion on December 23rd, earning him at least a mention in a mind-boggling 11(!) months in the process. But as fantastic as YE was, he was forced to come from behind in the Player of the Year race, as the first half of 2003 belonged to the Wonderboy himself, Big Bossman. Bryan put aside GE just long enough to take the PD world by storm over the summer, rising from 19th all the way into the #2 position in perhaps the most shocking 50 day stretch The Elite has ever seen. However, he proved willing to slow to an eventual stop once a majority of the damage had been done. Fortunately, the same cannot be said for Shade, whose seemingly endless string of jaw-dropping World Records saw him awarded a full 7 times during the year, despite the notable disadvantage of his not being fully reinstated. In short, 2003 was yet another very exciting year for the PDE, thanks in large part to the best performance of all time which was turned in by its Champion.

December
Your Eliteness
2003 drew to a close on a fantastic note, as December ended up being one of the most active months of the entire year. That being said, it seems only fitting that the player who started everything off so strongly was there again at the very end, to literally slam the door on the competition. Yes, there was once again no doubt about this award, as YE rolled to his 5th consecutive Player of the Month. And he did it in dramatic fashion, becoming the Elite's latest Time Champion near the middle of the month, then crashing into the top position in Points on the Christmas Eve update. Along the way he also managed to pass another incredible milestone, becoming the first man ever to single handedly break the 1:40 total time mark. It all happened on the strength of just over 100 points gained, nearly a minute cut, and 6 new WR ties. This is probably one of the few times where there is truly nothing more that can be said: the accomplishments speak for themselves.

Although no one had any real shot of downing the new Champ, there were a large number of very impressive showings elsewhere on the rankings, headlined by runner up Psycho. He made a very strong comeback, grabbing over 350 points to push himself back into the top 40, slashing away over a minute (and even picking up 2 nice WRs) in the process. However, a late surge by Vulpex [powered by a minute/200 pts-worth of improvements] proved enough to keep him ahead of Graham, by the narrowest of margins. As often seems to be the case, December's biggest gainers hailed from the jungles of Brazil. This time around it was Napa [924 pts, 3:52, 14 places, + a WR!] and Narigutita [893 pts, 3:21, a dozen places] who represented their country so well, as together they became the newest members of the top 50. Fellow countryman Greg K. did well for himself as well, knocking another 12 seconds from his total while snatching up another nice record. Not to be out-done, however, was good old Team Canada, as their entire top 3 really came to play in December. Lecmasta may have ended up getting the most WRs [2], and DMan's nice untied record may have helped him gain the most places [2, to get back into 6th], but it was undoubtedly Shade who stirred up the most excitement, thanks to his truly astounding Air Base PA record. Months just don't get much better than this.

November
Your Eliteness
It may be starting to sound like a broken record player, but, well... he's done it again, folks. The consistency shown by YE over the past months has been unlike anything the Elite has ever seen before, and so as you would expect, this performance looks much like the last few. 3 places were once again gained, this time elevating Ryan to 2nd place in both Points and Time. He also put together another 200+ pt gain, to go along with nearly a minute and a half slashed from his total. But where YE really shined in November was in the World Record department, where he had his best month ever in adding another 8 to his total. What more can you say... He's more than earned yet another.

Though there could be no doubting the POM, November did see a fine battle for runner up, one which was won in the end by Mitrhil. The talented Brazilian struck for nearly 600 points in entering PD's Top 25, and also knocked off over 3 minutes from his time, taking him down near the 1:50 mark. Coming up just short was Lecmasta, who earns a very honorable mention for his 3 nice WRs, one of them untied. JugadorJ3 also deserves a mention, as he struck back to defend his favorite record, untying it in the process. But by far the most impressive record of the month was set by Dark0Perfection, who untied one of the oldest WRs ever in Invest A. And the final two mentions go to KillerSim7, who improved by 100 points and nearly a minute in closing in on the Top 25, and perennial mention DMan, who just keeps at it, adding one more WR to his total.

October
Your Eliteness
He was given a real run for his money in October, but by the time the smoke had cleared there could be little doubt about it: YE had earned another POM. This makes it three in a row for the fantastic Aussie; the first time anyone has ever accomplished that feat. Who knows where the points are coming from anymore, but Ryan somehow managed to squeeze out another 280(!) during the month, on the way to his 3 position rise into 6th. Oh, wait, that's where he got the points... WRs! He set 5 of them in October, 3 of which were untied, including a clean sweep of Escape. But nice as all those stats were, YE's best work was undoubtedly done in time, where he slashed a full 55 seconds from his total, giving him the 2nd lowest total on Earth! What a month! Again!

Solid as YE was, though, DMan came very close to ending his historic streak. Although he didn't gain as many points [70] or cut off as much time [39s], Dman blew everyone away in the WR department, thanks to his Crash Site domination. Not only did he put up an untied sweep there, he also managed to smash the PA record (which had been the 2nd longest-lasting WR in history)... by an unheard of 5 seconds! Topping them both in terms of total records was Sim Threat, who took full advantage of the use of NTSC early in the month to set 6 of them, 3 untied, knocking off another 20 seconds in the process. Also playing well was Snowblind, who improved by a minute and a half and grabbed over 300 points, nearly vaulting him into the Top 20. And then there was Brazil... that country put on a display once again, this time by putting an amazing three different players into the Two Hour Club during the month. Mitrhil was most impressive, as he was somehow able to chop away an hour and 13 minutes(!) in going under, gaining over 1100 pts while he was at it. The other two were Ghus Dark [360 pts, 8:34 in time, into the Top 50] and Chuck L [260 pts, 1:56, also Top 50]. But we can't go without giving credit to WR powerhouse Shade, who earned himself yet another untied just before October drew to a close. Another very solid month!

September
Your Eliteness
After reaching the Top Ten in the previous month, it remained to be seen if the greatly increased difficulty in gaining points at that level would be enough to slow down YE's consistent, year-long rise to the top. September gave us our answer, loud and clear: not by a long shot. Ryan just kept churning out PRs, and by the time the 30th rolled around he had picked up another 200 points (reaching 7th) while cutting yet another two minutes from his total (making it the world's 4th lowest). But most impressive by far was his advancement on the WR front, as he achieved a full 6 during the month, including 2 very nice untieds. Is there anything that can slow this guy down?

Australia was strong once again in September, picking up a runner-up for Funky Buddha, who continued the Deep Sea domination with another untied there, to go along with his 40 seconds of improvement and 6 place jump into the Top 25. Plus it got another strong mention, thanks to JugadorJ3, who slashed just under a minute from his low, low total, as well as grabbing two new world records, one of them untied. However, Brazil was by far the month's most active country, picking up a full 4 mentions. The first was our big gainer, Narigutita, who improved by 800 points while cutting off over 17 minutes on his way to the mid-60's. Not far behind him was Mitrhil, who wound up in 53rd after also moving up 20 places, on the strength of just over 750 points. And then there were the last two, both of whom gained a little over 250 points: kack [1:30 cut, nearly making the Top 20] and Chuck L [3:30 in time, just missing the 2HC]. And finally, we had some solid performances from elsewhere the in world, headlined by Snowblind's WR and highly impressive return to the rankings at 24th, but also including the 30 second/2 place jump by Lecmasta into 15th, as well as KillerSim7's futher solidiying his position as the king of MBR with another untied world record.

August
Your Eliteness
It was the wildest summer in Elite history... but all good things must come to an end. Fortunately for us, it at least went out with a bang, thanks in large part to a fantastic performance by Your Eliteness. YE continued his string of great months, this time pushing himself right on into the Top Ten from a full 7 places back. He did it with the same kind of consistency he's shown all year, slashing away nearly 3 minutes in reaching the 1:45 mark. Ryan looked great in the other areas as well, namely points (well over 400) and World Records (another two added to his tally). Now those are what I call classic POM numbers.

But that wasn't it from Australia... no, that country had plenty more damage to do in this month. In the end, the Land Down Under took not only August's POM, but also its runner-up, and two of its mentions! That runner was JugadorJ3, who cut off another 20 seconds while in the process of setting three great WRs, two of them untied. The mentions, meanwhile, were Funky Buddha and Sim Threat. FB set what was by far the best record of the month, untying Deep Sea SA by a full 4(!) seconds, while the champ continued to lengthen his huge lead in time, extending it by another 17 seconds. Not to say that no one was willing to give chase... Shade was certainly up to the task, as proven by his minute and 45 second improvement (after finally getting PAL) as well as his new WRs (2 untied, 3 total). We also saw a couple nice comebacks, in the form of both Lecmasta [just under a minute cut, 100 points gained] and Dark Avenger [21 seconds, plus a solid WR]. And lastly, we can't overlook our big gainer, Narigutita, who powered his way past the 1k point mark in jumping nearly 40 places on the rankings. What a summer!

July
Big Bossman
I guess it's like they say: the third time's the charm. Yes, after twice having his amazing performances overshadowed by a man atop the rankings, Bosshardt finally picked the right month to tear the league apart. And that's about the best way to describe what Bryan pulled off yet again in July, as he rocketed himself a whole 5 places up the rankings, becoming the world's new #2 (minus Shade) and collecting well over 250 points in the process. He also cut an impressive 2+ minutes from his time, ending the month with the 2nd-lowest NTSC time ever. But as good as all those stats are, they can't compare to his improvements in the World Record department, where he took a full 11 more, 4 of them untied. Oh, and did I mention that he got himself into the prestigious 4 Minute PA Club?

As good as Bosshardt was, July '03 is going to remembered not for one great performance, but rather a huge amount of very good ones. Starting with our runner, Your Eliteness, who was simply fantastic in picking up a tad over 750 points en route to a 9 place improvement, moving all the way to 16th. Plus, he cut a little over 4 minutes from his low, low time. And there were other nice improvements within the Top Five as well, starting with Greg K., who moved himself up a spot into 4th, while slashing away at nearly 30 seconds and adding another 4 WRs to his total. Sim Threat stayed active as well, to the tune of 16 fewer seconds, and 2 new untied WRs. But, of course, Shade was not to be outdone, as he grabbed 2 records of his own, one of them untied. And let's not forget the month's big gainer, kack. He looked great, garnering a full 960 point while scaling 18 places on the ranks, to enter the Top 30. KillerSim7 kept at it, defending his MBR crown with another untied, while improving 6 places and nearly 300 points. And then we had GE king Wouter Jansen snatching up 2 new WRs, the same amount as Dark0Perfection. And, finally, July saw a good comeback from Pernicious P, who tied a great WR while jumping two spot higher in the ranks. What a month!

June
Shade
The start of summer led to one of the best months the Elite had seen in years, capped off by one of the greatest POM performances of all time. Yes, Shade picked up right where he left off at the end of April, bulldozing his way to 48 seconds worth of improvement, enough to take him below the 1:43:00 barrier (this is still with no PAL system in sight!), as well as gaining enough points to move him up into what would be a comfortable hold on the #2 position. But what was most impressive was his WRs... he set an entire 11 of them in the month, with over half of them (6 in total) being untied! It just doesn't get much better than that. Which, unfortunately, means that Big Bossman once again picked the wrong month to take the PD world by storm, poor guy. But storm it he did, slashing away nearly 6 whole minutes to join the Top Ten, as well as picking up 700+ points to push him an amazing 11 places forward, into the 7 spot. And Bosshardt got it done WR-wise as well, snatching 2 untieds among his 6 total.

And then, just to show how strong June really was, we had a third almost-POM-worthy performance by Your Eliteness, who proved to be of the best 1k+ gainers ever, climbing 19 places all the way to 25th while reaching that mark (and he cut off nearly 5 minutes, to boot). Next up were some excellent comebacks from both Greg K., who lowered himself 23 seconds while setting 5 new WRs, 2 of those very nice untied, and of course JugadorJ3, who had three of June's best WRs: 2 were untied, and the tied one was none other than Infil PA 1:52, the long-time "Best WR Ever"! Taking a step down in overall productivity was last month's winner, KillerSim7, but he didn't slow up on the WR front, thanks his grabbing 2 more (1 untied) while finishing off his MBR sweep. Also putting together 4 solid weeks was this month's big gainer, Dark0Perfection, who pushed himself to over 1200 points and 32 ranks in entering the top 70. And finally, we end with two legends who made good PD returns: Wouter Jansen [almost 200 pts, 38 seconds, 2 WRs, 1 untied] and then the big man himself, Sim Threat, who set yet another untied. Wow...

May
KillerSim7
The PDE wasn't quite as busy a place in May as it had been the previous month, but KillerSim, at least, gave no signs of slowing down. In fact, he put together what would have been a POM-worthy performance under any circumstances. Yes, he pretty much did it all over the course of the month... The 5 and a half minutes he cut from his time allowed him entrance into not only the 2 Hour Club, but also the even more exclusive 4 Minute PA Club. And he got the job done point-wise as well, grabbing over 600 of them on his way into the top 40. And then, to top it all off, he pulled out two nice MBR WRs, one of them untied! Now that's what I call covering all your bases.

Also barging into the 4MC was May's runner, Your Eliteness, who climbed over 400 points and 8 places into the mid-40's, while chopping another 2 1/2 minutes from his total. The big gainer, though, was newcomer dataDyne, who hacked and slashed his way to over 1,200 points and 12 and a half minutes, moving him all the way into the Top 50! Genisics made a nice little comeback, knocking off 2:34 while fighting his way to over 300 tough Top 20 points. And finally we have Dark Slayer, who kept up the good work to the tune of over 300 more points and 2 fewer minutes, and (who else?) DMan, who just keeps on keepin' on, 2 WR-style.

April
Shade
April saw a return to great activity for the PDE, headlined by a fantastic performance by its top active player: Shade. He kept PRing all month long, not letting up until he had knocked over a minute from his time, moving him below the 1:44 total mark in the process. (Incidentally, that is the lowest total time ever by an NTSC-only player.) His new times were also enough to move him ahead of both Phil and Paragon, into 3rd place in the world. Even without the arrival of his imminent proof tape, this was a performance that demanded to be awarded.

April also saw a first in the history of The Elite... The first-ever three way tie for runner up! It proved impossible to choose between the great achievements of Dark Slayer [1150 pts, 4 and a half minutes, 28 places into the Top 50], Your Eliteness [950 pts, 18 places, nearly 13 minutes to enter the 2 Hour Club], and KillerSim7 [1100 pts, 8 and a half minutes, 25 places, almost into the Top 50]. Excellent months by all three. Also performing well were Ghus Dark, with 950 pts and 21 places worth of improvement to go along with nearly and hour and a half chopped from his time, and Blazebebe, who gained nearly 300 points and cut 2+ minutes to enter the top 40. And, of course, we cannot overlook the great comeback from our old friend xXDarkLightXx, who made nearly a minute in improvements to gain back a place inside the Top 20. A very solid month, no doubts about it.

March
Goldenvinze
In another slow month (partially hindered by major t-e.n downtime), the great performances were understandably lacking. But that didn't stop our man Vinze from having a very solid month, one in which he managed to claw his way to over 60 difficult Top Ten points, moving up to #9 in the world. He also made good improvements in Time, where he was already well into the Top Ten. Best. Performance. Ever. Of March.

Vinze was challenged for the POM, however, by a newcomer named kack. He finished just shy of a 1k point gain in March, picking up over 20 places (to nearly enter the top 50) and hacking away a full 9 minutes from his total. Continuing his long string of mentions was our friend DMan, who gained another rank in battling his way back to 6th overall on the strength of some nice PRs. Staying active was Blazebebe, who picked up over 100 more points. And then there were some gainers in the 70's, by the names of Your Eliteness [100+ pts, 2 minutes] and Dark Slayer [100 pts, 4 minutes].

February
Blazebebe
February was a rather slow month, but Blazebebe managed to turn in a highly respectable POM-winning performance. He did very well in the point rankings, where he gained over 500 points and jumped 13 places to nearly enter the top 40, but was even more impressive in the time department. Here he cut nearly 6 and a half minutes, allowing him entrance into not only the Two Hour Club, but also the exclusive Four Minute PA Club! A very good month, all things considered.

Feb's runner up was also its lone 1K+ gainer, Your Eliteness, who played hard all month and was rewarded with 1,100+ pts, over 40 places, and over an hour cut from his time in entering the top 75. Getting mention #1 million was our old friend DMan, who remained active in setting another untied World Record. And the last two mentions go to players with some nice mid-rank gains, in Vulpex [400+ pts, 3 places, shaving a minute and a half] and DarkEmpire [4 places, over 100 pts, minute+ lost].

January
JugadorJ3
Matt returned in a big way, earning himself his first POM in just over a year. By the end of January he had amassed just over 400 points, enough to move him a full 6 places forward, becoming the latest Top Ten contender. He also set 3 new WRs (one of which displaced a former top 5 longest-lasting) and cut nearly a minute and a half from his time, placing him well into the Top Ten of those rankings. A classic POM performance, if there ever was one.

Also having a great month was our runner, Iggy, who chopped 2:30+ from his time while exploding for over 600 points, rocketing himself 15 places up the rankings and finishing just a hair out of the Top Twenty. Shade continued his strong play to the tune of still 4 more WRs, one of which was untied. Also getting mentions for their strong WRing are our perennial mentions, Greg K. and DMan, both of whom chalked up 2 more records to their total (Greg even got an untied). Big Bossman continued his consistent improvements, gaining/cutting another 100/1:00. And finally, we saw a strong push from Psycho, who jumped up 12 places and nearly 500 points, well into the top 50.

2002
Sim Threat
2002 will be remembered as a year shaped by the incredible feats of four men. The first is Dark Avenger, who simply blew by the competition (even killing off a 20+ month reign by Paragon) early in the year, making himself an easy choice for Player of the 1st Quarter. But little did he know, he would soon by knocked off that lofty perch by the uber-whoarder/PQ2, Discombobulator, who for the second time became PD's best player in the middle of the year. Certainly, we cannot go without giving credit to Greg K., the player who undoubtedly displayed the most hard work and consistency throughout the year. For proof of this, you need only to scroll down and take note of his being awarded on this page in an incredible 8 out of 12 months! ...and then, there was Karl. His strong performances to end the summer were enough to earn him PQ3; quite an impressive accomplishment, one would think. However, we hadn't seen anything yet. After getting access to a NTSC cart in October, Karl went on a PDing tear the likes of which the Elite had never seen before, nor is it likely to ever again. This re-writing of the history books is more than enough to make him not only the PQ4, but also The PD Elite's Player of 2002.

December
Shade
In a rather slow month to end out another fantastic year, the arrival of Shade's long-awaited proof tape made him the man to beat in December. His 4 WRs (2 of them untied), combined with the impressive new PRs he set upon (partially, at least) rejoining the rankings proved enough to win him the final POM of 2002. His closest competitor for the award was Snowblind, who receives a well-earned runner up for his 650 point, 5 minute improvement. He also entered the 2 Hour Club, and became the first to tie Bosshardt's :26 War.

Fittingly enough, the first mentions go to the two main competitors for Player of the Year, Greg K. and Sim Threat. Both had a fairly strong, though not amazing (for them), month to round out '02, as they each picked up three new WRs, two of them untied. And I have to give credit to the man whose proof arrived along with Shade's, Lecmasta, as his incredible times (including an untied record sweep of MBR!) placed him way up in 16th upon re-entry. The final mentions of the month go to Oh Jimmity [500+ pts, 10 places and minutes] and Blazebebe [300+ pts, 7 places, 9 minutes].

November
Sim Threat
Yes, it's finally happened... I've run out of adjectives. No words could do justice to Karl's November accomplishments, so let's just list them: -Became 6th man to hold title of PD points Champion. -Became 5th man to hold title of PD timee Champion (ending over a half-year of domination by Phil). -Untied Attack Ship record snapped the huge 1:40:00 Total Time mark. -Set record for WRs gained in a month, wwith 20. -Set record for untied WRs gained in a month, with 8. -Only second man in history to hold every Agent World Record at one time. -238 points gained. -3:41 cut in time. And finally, how's this one for an eye opener: -Ended month with more points than anyone else in Elite history has ever had at one time.

Unfortunately for Big Bossman, Karl's unbelievable month allowed for only a runner up position. But that doesn't take anything away from Bryan's completely insane November, in which he smashed the old record with a gain of 2,699(!!) points, climbed over 50 places into the Top 20, and cut over an hour from his time in reaching the Two Hour Club! As if that wasn't enough, he topped the month off by setting the ultimate record, :26 War Agent, breaking a record which had stood for over 830 days, and was thought unbeatable! But the great accomplishments didn't end there, as we also saw Greg K. battle his way into the Top Five on the strength of a 100 point, 4 WR performance. Then there was Iggy, rocketing 53 places up the ranks as he grabbed 1,600+ points and dropped 10+ minutes (moving him into the Two Hour Club). Snowblind had another solid month, cutting 5 minutes while picking up over 900 points and 17 places. Then we have yet another mention for Dark Master, who kept up the consistent improvements to the tune of 1 minute, over 100 points, and a couple more WRs. And finally we have Assasim, who put 400+ points and 9 more places under his belt. Whew... now that's what I call a record setting month!

October
Sim Threat
Karl re-wrote the history books once again in October, completing the most impressive month the PD Elite has even seen (baring Paragon's June '01)! It was inarguably #1 in many other categories, including most impressive point and rankings gain [679 pts, 9 places... from a man in 13th to start!] and WRs gained [13, 3 untied]. By the time the 31st came around, he found himself ranked first in every single A or SA category (points, time, WRs, untied WRs), as well as being on top for both total and untied WRs... by about a mile. And to top it all off, he ended within just a week's worth of effort of the championship spot for points. What a month!

Although no one could compete with Karl for POM, the runner-up race was the tightest we've ever seen. Dark Master's big push near the top of the rankings [well over a minute in time, 250 pts, 4 places, barely outside of the Top Ten] was just enough to squeeze by Bizichyld and his very impressive 500 point, 10 place climb to nearly enter the top 25. Also making a case for runner was Assasim, who had one of the biggest point gains yet [2,292] to go along with an incredible 54 place improvement, landing him in 54th. The rest of the mentions go to some rookies who made amazing debuts in their first active month: Snowblind [starting 57, and within 6 minutes of the Two Hour Club] and Big Bossman [coming off his GE-domination to begin 70th]. And last we have KillerSim7, who played hard all month and received nearly 900 points for his effort.

September
Greg K.
September was a return to classic form for the POM, with a very strong field of contenders, the best in many a month. Coming out on top for his first win was perennial mention Greg K. And a well-earned win it was, as he needed every one of his 3 WRs, 150+ points (moving him deadly close to the Top Five), and minute plus in time to hold off his major competitor, Dark Master. He was a strong runner up, gaining well over 200 points and knocking more than a minute and half off his total, nearly entering the Top Ten for time.

Thanks to our very honorable mention, Elite Gamer, Sept was also a record-setting month. He blew away the old record for most points gained in a month, ending with 2,492(!) points (and 57 places !) of improvement to go along with his 36 minute minute cut, landing him a mere 3 minutes shy of the Two Hour Club. Also playing out of his mind was Vulpex, who exploded for over 1,000 points and 20 places in entering both the top 40 and the fore-mentioned Two Hour Club. But we can't forget about the 500 Point Three, namely: Easton [7 places], fadarkue [6 places], and Failure Warning [8 places]. Fantastic month!

August
Goldenvinze
In one of the most heated races in recent history, Goldenvinze did just enough to hold off close runner up Sim Threat for August's POM. Sim Threat did best Vinze in WRs [7 to 4], but Vinze was barely able to tip the scales in his direction thanks to his equaling Karl in points [both a hair under 200] and places gained [3], whilst beating him out in time [1:18 to :46]. Quite impressive, considering Vinze's being higher ranked in both categories heading into the month.

A very special mention goes to Greg K., who competed well in the month without the aid of the whoard. He managed two WRs to go along with his 100 pts gained, and nearly another full minute cut. Then there was Bizichyld, who made a big push of almost 500 points and over four minutes to enter the Two Hour Club. The big point gainer was fadarkue, who shot up 1000 points and 20 places to nearly enter the top 50. Neo did well, as he hacked away nearly a half-hour from his time, while grabbing 600 points along the way. And finally, we have a man who's getting very used to the POM page, Dark Master. He continued his steady improvement by knocking off another minute (pushing himself below 1:50) and climbing four more places, well into the top 20.

July
Sim Threat
Another outstanding month from Sim Threat was enough to crown him the first-ever back to back Player of the Month. He almost exactly mirrored his June performance [once again, he moved up 8 places, while nearly reaching 500 points gained and cutting well over three minutes from his low total time], with the main exception coming in the world record department. In July he was able to double his output there, picking up 8 new WRs, two of which (again!) had been quite highly ranked on the Oldest WRs page.

Greg K. proved himself a strong runner up, as he exploded forward for 100+ points to move himself into the Top Ten in both the Point and Time rankings. He also banged out 4 WRs, one of which unseated the very long-standing AFO PA record, after 500 days on top. Then we have a very honorable mention for ExpertGamer, who made a fine comeback (this being exactly one year since his last POM mention) with 6 new WRs and nearly a half-minute cut from his total. Also, despite the fact that he had been conducting the final Big Whoard for several months, we cannot forget Discombobulator, who within the month got the final PRs to rocket him into the top spot in points. Along the way he set 16 records (including the incredible :15 Chicago A) and cut nearly 8 minutes(!) off his time. The comebacks didn't end there, however, as ParagonX9 became the third legend to come striking back in June, to the tune of four new WRs, enough to boost him within a hair of the top spot in Time. Still, there were some nice performances from some non-legends, namely the big point gainer, Quiet Bol [800+ pts and 16 places, to enter the top 50] and Sixteen [8 places and nearly 400 pts]. Quite the historic month!

June
Sim Threat
Sim Threat was clearly the run-away winner of June's POM. He put the contest away early by exploding for four new World Records, (two of which had previously been ranked #2 and #3 on the Oldest WR chart!) turning the second half of the month into a battle for runner up. When it was all said and done, June saw this talented gamer rise 8 places and just over 500 points, while slashing away over four full minutes from his total.

And that runner-up was none other than SlayerRocket, who chased Karl all month long, eventually managing to pull ahead (in points) by month's close. He finished with an impressive 11 place, 800+ point gain, to go along with his two large accomplishments: entering the 2 Hour Club and setting a great untied CI record. Gaining an honorable mention is Dark Master, who made a solid improvement of eight places, enough to make him a member of the Top 20. And then there was Emizkit, who blew away the old record by gaining 2,275(!) points during the month. This was enough to rocket him nearly 40 places forward (into the top 35) as well as turn him into the newest member of the 2 Hour Club. Also going for a massive point spree was Bizichyld, who shot up over 1,100 pts on his way into the top 50. And the final two mentions go to Sixteen [2 WRs, 4+ minutes, 400ish pts] and Desert Eagle [2 WRs, 200 pts, nearly 2 minutes]. Eh, got to throw Quiet Bol a bone, he played hard all month and picked up 550+ points for his efforts.

May
DMan
After an unprecedented* 6 months as runner/mention, DMan was finally able to pull off a big POM win in May. And he did it in impressive fashion, becoming only the 9th man in Elite history to reach the rarified air of the Top Three players on earth. 80 points, thanks in large part to 5 big world records (one untied), were enough to lift him well beyond Expert and Carnski and into the "Show" position. Great to see 8 months of hard work pay off.

The race was neck and neck all month long, but Goldenvinze ended up landing a spot as runner-up. His big improvements [350 points, 1:45 off his already sub 1:50 total time] left him just a hair outside of the Top Ten in points, and well within that mark for time. He was followed by four huge point gainers, who were headed up by Desert Eagle [750+ pts, jumping up 14(!) spots and into the top 25, along with 17 minutes to enter the 2 Hour Club]. Then came a full three 1K+ gainers, namely Genisics [1,121 pts to climb up 17 places into the top 30, with a 12+ minute cut] and the two guys who struck back from outside the top 100, Neo [just under 1,100 pts and over an hour in time] and Amoore [over 1,200 points and 36 spots]. But, we mustn't forget our old friend SamSim, who had his best month yet in grabbing nearly 500 points on his way into the top 50. Another solid month all around!

April
Dark Avenger
An incredible month once again! April saw the largest number of serious POM contenders in history, the world's largest single month point gain, and to top it all off, a new champion was crowned! That champ was none other than Dark Avenger, who achieved an astounding new record of 13 WRs, 5 of them untied. These new times were enough to put him far above former long-time #1 Paragon in every single category (A/SA/PA/total points & time, most WRs, ect all) including PA time, where he had been completely untouched for over 20 months. Definitely one of the best performances in Elite history.

April's very close runner up was Kingpin, who had an outstanding break-out month which ended with improvements of over 1,200 points, over 20 places (becoming latest top 25 contender), and nearly 10 minutes (pushing well below 2:00:00). Then we have a very honorable mention for DMan, who exploded for 5 new WRs (4 would have been untied, if not for a late surge from Dark Avenger) and a spot in the very elite company of the Top Five. And let's not forget SlayerRocket, whose 4 WRs included great new Defection SA/PA records (later beaten by that Defection god, Sucram), and also jumped up yet another 500+ points and 10 places. Still, the coolest new record has got to be most points gained in a month, set by Desert Eagle with an insane 1,832 pts to go along with 32 places, entering the top 40. What's that? More?! Ah... can't disrespect these guys, they all had fantastic performances: Keefer [500 pts, over 4 minutes, entered top ten and broke 1:50!], Bizichyld [1,600+ pts, almost 50 spots to 67th], Xylus [1,200 pts, 20 places, almost top 50], and finally Goldenvinze [5 places, threatening Top Ten].

March
Shade
I can honestly say that this was the best month in the history of the POM award. Certainly there have been a few better individual performances scattered throughout the past 22 months, but nothing has ever matched the overall improvements we saw in March. And coming out at the very top of the heap was none other than Shade, whose incredible run ended with no less than 7 world records, 5 of them untied! But that wasn't all, as his very-well rounded achievements also include a 600 point, 10 place jump into becoming the latest Top Twenty contender, plus nearly 7 minutes cut from his total, moving him well below the 2 hour mark. This is exactly the kind of hard work the POM was created to reward!

A new 1K+ gainer streak was kicked off this month by not one, but two talented gamers. The first is March's very close runner-up for POM, Wouter Jansen. He decided to put his Goldeneye domination on hold, and took to powering his way 21 places and 1,255 points up the charts all the way to the top 40, while ended just a hair over the 2 hour mark in cutting over 15 minutes off his time. The other huge gainer was SlayerRocket, who pulled off a record 1,301 pt gain while moving 28 places and into the top 50. And we certainly can't forget the amazing months performed by both DMan (continued climbing the Top Ten with another 150+ pts & 2 and a half minute cut, taking him well below the 1:50 total) and Greg K. (over 300 points and a full 8 places, into 15th overall!) who would have won a POM of their own in nearly any other month. But wait, there's more! GoldenGreg007 made his best attempt to chase down Wouter, and picked up over 900 points and 25 fewer minutes in the process, while Dark Master exploded for over 450 points and 3 dropped minutes and Lecmasta powered his way to 3 minutes of his own, along with 200 Top 20 pts and an untied MBR WR! Jeez... looks like we need to stretch the list for just one more, as ChodhE simply won't be denied with yet another 4 WR, 1+ minute take off. What a month!

February
Dark Phoenix
In another extremely active and hotly-contested month, Dark Phoenix was able to stand apart from the crowd thanks to his textbook POM-winner numbers. By the end of the short month he had amassed over 450 difficult points, while climbing the ranks 10 places all the way into 18th. He also managed to cut an entire 5 and a half minutes off his total, to bring him into the 1:55:00 range. An excellent all-around performance, truly the kind this award was designed for.

February's runner-up is none other than DMan, who made a strong showing atop the charts by gaining 2 WRs, 2 places, and over 90 tough Top Ten points to go along with the minute+ he sliced off his time. And a very honorable mention to Shade, who played hard and finished strong with 500+ pts and over 11 fewer minutes to go along with a 9 place climb. Lecmasta played well in Phoenix's wake, moving into both the Top 20 and the 2 Hour Club. Greg K., meanwhile, continued to trail Lec on his way to 250+ points and another 6 places. Humma was the month's big gainer, ending 820 points and 19 whole places higher than he had started. And, what the hey, might as well HM those POM-mainstays Wabs (nice 4-place gain into Top Ten contendership) and ChodhE (yet another 1 minute, 2 WR performance).

January
Goldenvinze
The new year got off to an excellent start, with January being the most active month since the summer. When it was all said and done, Goldenvinze had pulled off a classic POM-winning month, including powering his way a full 10 places up the charts to enter the Top 15, while picking up over 450 tough points and cutting over 3:30 off his already sub 1:55:00 total time!

However, that's not to say that Vinze didn't face some very tough competition. January's runner-up is also the biggest point gainer, Dark Phoenix. He exploded for over 700 points and 12 places on his way into the top 30. (Unfortunately, yes, our 1,000 pt gainer streak did come to an end after 6 months.) Managing to stay ahead of him was Lecmasta, who continued his strong improvement with a 600 point, 9 place performance. Also having very strong months were Shade (550+ pts, 11 places), Greg K. (350 pts, 4 places), and Wabs (130 tough Top 20 pts, 2 places). And we certainly can't forget ChodhE, who sets an unheard of 5th (!) straight mention on the POM page, thanks to another 4 great WRs and yet another minute off his low total time.

2001
ParagonX9
Paragon went inactive early in the year, and in mid-March Disco was finally able to pull ahead of him in points. However, the master came roaring back with months of domination unlike the PD Elite had ever seen before (e.g. June). And of course he rarely let any man come within 2 minutes of his untouchable total time championship, a reign that was extended to over 450 days by the end of the year. Dark Avenger made a case for himself by becoming "the man", records-wise, during Paragon's break in the final months of the year, and would certainly be a unanimous choice for player of the 4th quarter.

December
DarkestMatt
Matt ended out the year by making an incredible surge up the rankings, cutting over 5 very tough minutes off, and gaining 11 places and just under 700 points, making him the newest member of the Top 15. Once again, this month saw the big point gainer just barely edging out the huge World Record setter. This month's version was played by ChodhE, who managed to tie 5 WRs (and pick up 150+ pts) during December. If fact, he set an insane record by tying three if the Longest-Lasting Untied WRs, including two of the top five!

Dark Avenger also went on a WRing tear to close out 2001, gaining a full 8 records in the month. There were hardly enough Honorable Mentions to go around in this very deep month. Lecmasta did very well, gaining over 800 points and climbing 12 places; Suicide Eagle gets his first mention thanks to his exploding for 500+ points in becoming the latest Top 20 contender. Then there's Red Bull and his 450 pt, 10 place improvement... And of course we can't forget Genisics, who extended the 1k-gainer streak for us with an impressive 1,132 pt move into the Top 50. An amazing month all around!

November
Funky Buddha
November's award ended up being the toughest POM decision in the entire 18 month history of the Elite. In the end, Buddha's textbook POM-winner final numbers (500 pts, 9 places to enter the Top 25) were just enough to squeak by close runner-up Cck (160 pts, 3 places) and his 3 impressive untied WRs, which cut 6 seconds off the Elite's total time. Both had exception months, and either way, history was going to be made: this is the first POM ever awarded to a PAL player. Congratulations to both of them.

In other news, ChodhE earned his 3rd mention in a row by becoming the latest Top 10 contender with another solid 120 pt, 3 minute cutting month. Spawnn was taken out of POM contendership because of 2 months whoarding, yet his incredible 1,700 pt gain average is worthy of a mention. (Not to mention his extending our 1k point gaining streak to 5 months.) And we certainly can't forget captZEEbo, who picked up 100 tough Top 10 points while knocking off 2 long-standing Skedar WRs.

October
Pernicious P
Never has the Elite seen such insanely impressive consistency as Pernicious displayed over the past 90 days, and especially extending into October. Scrolling down, you'll notice two honorable mentions in the last months for unprecedented point gains. And although this month's 550+ pt gain isn't quite as high, they were much harder to achieve, as Pern bulldozed his way into the Top Ten in time, and a mere 150 pts from that mark in points.

October's runner-up was ChodhE, who with 350+ pts had his second great month in a row, despite not being to hold his position ahead of Pern. He also picked up 3 WRs and cut a nice 6+ minute off his total. Yet another player keeping a string of great months going was DMan, gaining Top Ten status with over 100 very tough points. DarkHawk made a strong and long-awaited comeback by scratching his way back to Top Ten status, while Keefer performed well by getting 4 WRs and nearly 200 pts. And we can't forget FunkyToad, who extended the Elite's 1K+ gains to 4 months(!) with an impressive 1,123 total.

September
Sucram
It certainly is nice to see good old Mr. Consistency himself finally be rewarded with a POM award of his very own. And he truly earned it during the month, as early on he (with the help of Paragon) devised an incredible new Defection PA strat that cut more time off the Elite total than anything since Deep Sea! But he didn't stop there, as he went on to set 3 more untied WRs (plus several more that would have been untied at month's beginning). Still not satisfied, he worked hard to cut down his total time on PD's very toughest PA levels and again found great success. In the end, it was enough to move him into the number 2 spot in the world in points, and a mere 14 seconds off of 2nd in time, also.

Shock also had an outstanding month in becoming September's runner-up. It was great to see another of the Elite's original members staying very active throughout, as Shock did while gaining over 400 points and climbing 7 spots all the way back into the Top Ten, while at the same time cutting 3+ minutes off his total time. Another player with an outstanding performance was ChodhE, who kept the string of 1K+ gains going by picking up a full 1,100+ points. He also had the second largest Top Twenty jump we've seen by getting in from all the way back in 40th! And then, returning from August mentions but continuing with excellent Sept work were Pernicious P, with his Invest PA work and 650+ points; and DMan, who came within an inch of the Top Ten while snatching another 150+ tough points.

August
captZEEbo
After two months of rewarding some already near-perfect PD demi-gods, August's POM is able to return to the award's roots: ungodly amounts of playing time ~> insane PR totals ~> hundreds upon hundreds of points gained ~> skyrocketing up every single chart. And no one has ever fit that description as well as Zeebo did in this month. He ended up gaining just a tad under 1,200(!) points, which is even more insane considering how he started the month already well-ranked, at #27. Speaking of that 27th, no one in history has come close to pulling into the Top Ten from that far away in a single month. And you can be sure that he did far more than just pick up easy points, as his 5 World Records attest to.

And yet great as Zeebs was, the POM was only an inch away from falling to yet another demi-god, this month's runner-up, Dark Avenger. By the time his amazing month came to a close a full 15 WRs had fallen in his wake, including some on levels where he faced a PAL disadvantage! He picked up 120+ very tough points on his way to becoming the new #3 player on the planet. Then there are very impressive honorable mentions, including the two most outstanding points climbs yet by Goldenvinze (1,295) and Pernicious P (1,213), who both climbed up into the mid 30's. Plus I've just got to mention Mikers for his 650+ jump to 32nd, Wabs for his 400+ to 26th, and then certainly DMan, who got nearly 300 tough top 20 points while picking up 3 new WRs, one of them an incredible untied CI time.

July
ExpertGamer
In the closest and most heated POM race in Elite history, Expert played hard straight through to the end of the month and pulled away with the win. His half a dozen new WRs accounted for all but a second of what the Elite cut in the month, and his dozens of other PRs were enough to pick up nearly 100 very tough points, and boost him 3 places up, all the way into 2nd overall! He also cut off all kinds of time, becoming the new #2 in those rankings as well.

The very close runner-up is none other than DarkOne, who had the most impressive month in the Elite history, points-wise, by picking up a full 1,066 points during the month! Of course he also flew way up the charts, ending a full 18 spots ahead as a solid top 25 member. PillowHead made your classic POM-winning improvements by gaining nearly 400 pts and climbing up all the way from 20th into 11th, becoming the latest Top Ten contender. And yet it could get him only an Honorable Mention in this very deep month. Cck cut off perhaps more time than anyone ever has in a month, along with over 800 points and an untied WR. And then a special mention to Dark Avenger, who became the second most impressive new member in history on joining and then improved to become the top PAL player on the planet.

June
ParagonX9
The Player of the Month award is generally not given to players who are already at the very top of the charts, and has in fact never been awarded to a man who was already the #1 player in both charts coming in to the month. But Paragon really gave us no choice this month, and the POM will go down as just another of the innumerable records he shattered in the past weeks. He single-handedly brought the Elite back from it's dormancy and into a great revival thanks to his 3 new, ingenious time-saving tricks. In the end, well over a dozen world records were broken, and he further stretched his complete dominance of all things Perfect.

Even with so many great accomplishments, Paragon was challenged for the award as the month drew to a close. That close runner-up is good old Mr. Consistency, Sucram, who came alive late to power himself ahead of both Expert and DarkLight and into the coveted #3 position, gaining nice WRs and 100+ tough points along the way. Other players who had a great month include Carnski, who pulled ahead 2 places and nearly 200 points in the middle of that Top Ten; darkestmatt, who was the big gainer with over 350 points and 6 places while becoming the latest top twenty contender; and MODnike, who flew up 4 places and into the top fifteen. Congrats to all of them, each one pulled off what could have been a POM-winning performance in nearly any other month!

May
Falcon
Falcon did almost exactly the same thing this month as Ultimate G did in the last, allowing me to almost quote myself in describing it. He picked up 400+ points on his way to becoming the newest top 10 contender, jumping into the 11 spot from all the way back in 16th. It was hard to match up to Falcon's big improvements, but ExpertGamer was nearly able to do it. His 6 new WRs (the only ones of the month) helped to push the total time lower, and also moved him from a virtual tie in points with Sucram into a safe 100 point lead on the 4th spot, and within shouting distance of DarkLight in 3rd.

April
Ultimate G
In a very, very active month, it was difficult to decide on a POM. But in the end, no player had as good a month (or remained as active throughout) as did Ultimate G. He picked up 400+ points on his way to becoming the newest top 10 contender, jumping into the 11 spot from all the way back in 17th. And let's not forget his 3 World Records, which helped to push the Elite under the 1:46 total mark. As you would expect, the honorable mention list is long and noteworthy, so let's see who the almost-POMs were. DarkHawk had an outstanding month, picking up 4 spots to move to 6th place, even staying ahead of a surging SnapDragon, whose comeback and new WRs are worth a mention here. The strong pull of Goldeneye unfortunately cost Sim Threat his chance at POM when he went inactive with PD from mid-month on. And 3 more names to throw out there, all had 300+ point leaps in the month: darkestmatt, Falcon, and BlueDogGreen.

March
Discombobulator
In the middle of the month, Disco blew right by DarkLight and, somehow, Paragon also fell. After knocking off the long-time World's #1, Disco just didn't quit. He continued to pick up WRs, seemingly at will. Even the longest-lasting records, and Paragon's personal favorites were taken down. A truly historic month.

February
Ultimate G
Many players did well in this month, but no one could quite match G's improvements. Improving from 40th to 17th in points was good enough to beat out close competitors PillowHead, (from 20th to 13th, becoming the newest Top Ten challenger) and captZEEbo (25th to 15th).

January

Just take a look at the point rankings graph, and you'll get an idea how January went for DL. See that almost vertical blue line rocketing toward the sky? That's why I call this the best month by any player in the Elite's entire history. After finishing with Majora, DL hit Perfect Dark hard, and with great results. He had sprung up from 9th to 2nd in points by early in February. And total time was no different, as he pulled well ahead of Expert and into 2nd there.

2000
Player of the Year
ParagonX9
No surprise here. Paragon showed he was one of the best right from the start, and seemed to just keep improving through the months. By the end of the year he had built himself an incredible lead in both points and time.

December
MonsieurLeManchot
No player was as dominant as in past months, but MLM played very well and deserves this POM. He went out a proved to the world that he was going to be a contender in the future, taking a big jump from outside of the top 30 all the way to 19th in the point rankings. An honorable mention goes to PrimeNumber, with a 32nd to 23rd jump, and ShadowZero, with his move from 40 to 24th.

November
Discombobulator
This was one of the best months the Elite has ever seen from a player. In October he had made his long climb up the ranks, finally pushing his way into the top ten. But November was when his talent really shone through, as he moved all the way from 9th to 2nd in the point rankings, picking up nearly 300 points along the way. He also shot way up in total time, from 11th to 6th.

October
xXDarkLightXx
Wow, talk about a crazy month. DarkLight started October out having just been removed from the Elite, and considered by most not only to be a liar, but also to be... Darren Frickel. Ouch. However, he cleared his name with a tape sent to Octoinky (the first new member forced to prove himself) and by the end of the month he was resting well into the top ten in time, and only a few pts away from that mark in points.

September
ParagonX9
There was no doubt as to who was the man in September. Even with all of the greats active, Paragon was able to beat them out to become #1 in points for the first time early in the month. It was a spot he would get very much used to. On the 17th, he got the lead back from Snap, and held it for many a month to follow. By the end of the month, on the 24th, he even moved Marsh aside to make himself the top man in total time.

August
Marshmallow
He came. He saw. He conquered. By the beginning of the month he had solidified his spot on top the total time ranks, and no one approached him for over two months. Then with the start of point rankings on the first day of the month, he only took a few days to move on top there, also. Though he and Snap battled back and forth throughout the month, Marsh came out on top in the end, and deserves this POM.

July
SnapDragon
Total Agent time became the Elite's only focus right from the start of July. Snap pulled into the lead and held it for months to come. He also held the lead in total time (first put online on the 10th) for most of the month, until Marshmallow's joining late in the month.

June
Ngamer64
He participated in every completion of the early Elite, from the 5th on, even coming out on top in the Attack Ship SA battle. He held the most World Records as of mid-June, when the Elite left Pdark following the server crash. And, hey, he's just an all-around great guy.
